Cosy Fernie Winter Wedding - Karla & Rod

Karla and Rodney's Fernie intimate winter wedding was a chilly yet heartwarming affair set against the dreamy landscapes of BC. Imagine snow-covered mountains, cozy vibes, and a love story that'll make your heart skip a beat. If you haven’t been to Fernie, well, you’re missing out. It’s the chillest ski town in Canada (don’t quote me on that but I’m pretty sure it’s true). Because Fernie is a little off the beaten path, it still retains some of its ski-bum charm. With an adorable downtown filled with cute shops, cute people and delicious bagels - it makes for a pretty magical spot for a winter wedding - or a wedding any time of the year really!

Karla, Rod and their families travelled all the way from Saskatchewan for their special day and from the moment I arrived I was so excited to be part of the celebrations as well! Their Fernie wedding had all the elements I love on wedding days: intimate vibes, cute kids, a cosy home for getting ready in, and a delicious restaurant to party the night away at! Karla, our effortlessly cool bride, traded the traditional for a leather jacket paired with a stunning dress from Pronovias, courtesy of Bridal Boutique Calgary – they really nailed the style game. And Rodney, our unsuspecting farmer from Saskatchewan, turned out to be a dance-floor maestro, spinning Karla like a pro.

Now, let's chat about the ceremony. We ditched the sunny scenes for a snug winter church vibe at Christ Church, right in the heart of Fernie. The pastor even went barefoot – talk about commitment. The stained glass windows added a burst of color, turning the ceremony into a scene straight out of a romance movie.

Post-"I dos," we braved the chill for some family snaps and then hit the Fernie trails for bridal party portraits. Snow, smiles, and squad goals – you get the drift. Karla's bouquet, a burst of colors thanks to Green Petal Florals, played peekaboo against the snowy backdrop.

Now, let's talk party central – Loaf, you absolute legends! They dished out mouthwatering bites and hosted the reception like it was their own shindig. The reception turned into a comedy club with guests pulling off outrageous kissing demos, which, of course, Karla and Rodney had to replicate. A poetic moment from the groom, heartfelt speeches, and an epic first dance – it was a Fernie winter wedding reception for the books.

This wasn't your average wedding. It was a blend of rustic charm, snow-draped landscapes, and two souls head over heels for each other. As the Fernie wedding paparazzi (aka me, Bree), capturing these moments felt like striking gold. The love was palpable, the vibes were cozy, and the snowy panorama outside was just the cherry on top of the wedding cake.

So, here's to Karla, Rodney, and their gang of merry-makers, embarking on this crazy, beautiful journey called marriage!

Sending you all the cozy vibes,

Bree, Your Fernie Wedding Photographer
