Calgary Urban Stephen Avenue Wedding - Lindsey & Steve
I mostly shoot adventurous weddings out in nature. That's kind of what I'm known for. I shoot elopements in the mountains of Kananaskis and Banff or intimate weddings on Vancouver Island. I've never been especially inspired by urban landscapes and urban weddings never really appealed to me.
Or at least that's what I thought.
Steve and Lindsay's urban downtown Calgary wedding on Stephen Ave was one of a kind and it absolutely changed the way I view urban weddings. It was the first wedding in Calgary to happen on Stephen Ave and I was honoured to photograph it. Now I see urban weddings as a way to play with textures and light. I see them as an opportunity to capture beauty in a place that might not be immediately seen as beautiful. I see them for their inherently human design... and I love to photograph human connection within them.
Steve and Lindsey are a seriously beautiful couple and their wedding was elegant, romantic and modern. From their perfect dog Bernard to their bridal party with the best dance moves, I fell in love with Lindsey and Steve's family and friends more and more as the day went on. I've never laughed so hard at speeches as I did at this wedding. Seriously, Aziz Ansari showed up to do improv and compared their relationship to the solar eclipse.
I'm so thankful I got to be the photographer for this amazing couple and I can't wait to see them again for the second Morris family wedding in December. I wanted to show off the classic beauty of the day by posting an all black and white blog post! I had to resist the temptation to deliver the whole gallery like this. I would love to know what you think!
