The Crossing at Ghost River - Cochrane Wedding Venue
Jenn & Myles were one of the awesome couples I connected with a few years ago before Covid was a word in our collective vocabularies. Unfortunately when the world was turned upside down these two wonderful humans had to postpone their Cochrane wedding day until the following year. There were a lot of ups and downs while we waited for things to settle down but when they were finally able to have the wedding day they had been dreaming of for years, it was well worth the wait! The love these two share is so deep and romantic. It really makes you believe in love when you see how they pour their hearts and souls not only into each other but also into their friends and families.
Although their original wedding plans looked a little different, the way things finally fell into place actually felt perfect in the end. A lot had changed in the two years as Jenn & Myles actually had purchased a new home in the south of Calgary and after a little bit of deliberation they decided to host their friends and family in their backyard for a sweet little reception after having their wedding ceremony at The Crossing at Ghost River - an amazing Cochrane wedding venue just 40 minutes outside of Calgary.
I had never been to The Crossing at Ghost River before but after Jenn & Myles wedding day, I can really see why this is one of the most popular Cochrane wedding venues. One of the main things I loved about The Crossing at Ghost River is that they have multiple options for ceremony sites for your wedding. Jenn & Myles picked their ceremony site nestled in between the trees overlooking the river. If you are looking for a forest wedding venue in Alberta or near Calgary, then this is one of the only spots I know of that has a forested ceremony site for your wedding. I didn’t get a chance to check out the other outdoor wedding ceremony locations at this Cochrane wedding venue but I did learn that they have a backup indoor location in case it rains, which is always comforting to have as an option! From a Cochrane wedding photographer perspective, the indoor location has amazing light and almost feels like a greenhouse, without the plants!
The other great thing about the Crossing at Ghost River as a Cochrane wedding venue is that there is no shortage of amazing locations for photo opportunities nearby! Combined with the soft, warm light created by the smoke from the BC forest fires, we had magic hour in the middle of the day which is every photographers dream! Myself and the videographers from Summit Films were losing our minds! I could have wandered through the forest paths and through the groves of trees for hours on end with Jenn & Myles if the schedule had allowed for it. Luckily we were able to make some magic and I got some of my favourite wedding photos of 2021 with these two!
Afterwards, we headed back to Jenn & Myles backyard wedding in Calgary and soaked up all the speeches, the love, the amazing food from the caterers, treats from the snack bar and the sweetest first dance under the starry sky and a sparkler send off to finish the night. It was a truly perfect wedding and I am so grateful I got to be a part of it.
