The Rommens Family - Kananaskis Sunset Adventure Maternity Session
Recently I've found myself doing more maternity sessions than I would have ever expected* when I first started this business! I've noticed that there is something about that soon-to-be-mama glow that really translates into photos. I've met some pretty amazing mothers these last few years and I continue to meet them! You ladies are everyday superheroes and I honestly don't know how you do it all (and manage to look good while you're doing it!).
I really lucked out when I connected with Chelsea and her family. When they contacted me about a maternity shoot they were pretty open to my ideas so I tried to think of something that was a little out of the ordinary for a Calgary maternity session. I have a thing for waterfalls (doesn't everyone?) so I suggested we check out Elbow Falls in Kananaskis as it is only about 45 minutes outside of the city. It feels like a million miles away from the chaos though and has definitely become one of my go-to "escape from the city" spots. I've been wanting to do a session here for a while now so I was stoked to discover that Chelsea was up for anything! She didn't have any hesitations when I asked if she would go stand on the edge of the rock overhanging the falls. Even I thought I was a little bit crazy for asking that. But I think the shots we got were worth a little bit of off-roading adventuring! If you have any secret or not-so-secret favourite spots like this near Calgary, leave them in the comments below so I can check them out!
*did you catch that epic pun?
