Storm Mountain Lodge Elopement Banff - Rob & Dawn
A few months ago I was contacted by Dawn & Rob about shooting their intimate Banff elopement at Storm Mountain Lodge. Hidden off the side of Highway 93 in Banff National Park, Storm Mountain Lodge is one of those intimate wedding venues that every photographer dreams of shooting at. Guests stay in individual log cabins scattered through the property. They are cosy and cute and the perfect location for a magical winter elopement in Banff. Dawn & Rob had discovered me through Instagram, which was a first for me! We met for coffee to chat about their Banff elopement plans and instantly hit it off. One of my favourite memories was when I got up to use the bathroom and came back to Rob exclaiming, "I know you've only been gone 2 minutes but we've already had a change of plans! We want you to join us for dinner at the lodge after the wedding!" That was when I began to learn just how friendly and inviting these two and their closest friends are. At no point during the day did I feel like "the photographer", more like an old friend third wheeling Rob & Dawn on a snowshoeing date through the snowy forest! The ceremony lasted a grand total of 7 minutes on the front porch of their cute cabin and was witnessed by myself and 3 other people. It was intimate and meaningful and just for the two of them, which accurately describes the entire day. I may have been the only single person at this Banff elopement, but being surrounded by such genuine and unconditional love was incredibly refreshing. I can only hope to encounter such a love myself one day! Congrats again, Rob and Dawn and I'll see you at the Loose Moose sometime soon!
