Cosy Fall Wedding at The Alloy Restaurant in Calgary - Ashley & Brian
An Intimate Fall Wedding at Alloy Restaurant in Calgary
Ashley & Brian’s fall wedding at the Alloy Restaurant in Calgary was everything my heart and soul craves on a wedding day. From start to finish, the day felt like a warm hug. It was uncomplicated, intentional, and full of good food, good loving, and a whole lot of good jokes (but I won’t mention the questionable dance floor moves).
Getting Ready: A Relaxed Start to a Beautiful Day
When I arrived at their house in the morning for some getting-ready photos, I had no expectations of how the day would go. Ashley & Brian (and their friends and parents!) were so relaxed and welcoming that I felt like I was photographing old friends. They’re the kind of clients we all dream of having.
A Warm, Autumn Backyard First Look
Imagine this: a backyard at the peak of its autumn foliage. Fall is my absolute favorite season in Calgary for weddings—cooler weather, longer light, and that crisp, fresh air. Ashley looked stunning with her hair and makeup done by the talented Studio Haven, and her look stayed flawless all day. First came a first look with her mom and dad (the cutest!), and then finally, Brian saw his bride-to-be for the first time that day. TEARS ENSUE.
A Walk Through Bowness Park for Wedding Portraits
Intimate Portraits in a Meaningful Setting
Because Ashley & Brian opted out of a wedding party, it was just the three of us. We took a walk down to Bowness Park—just a couple of blocks away—to do their wedding portraits somewhere meaningful to them, where they used to walk their sweet dog, Ruger. There’s nothing I love more than taking wedding portraits in a place where my clients feel a genuine connection.
Capturing the Magic of Fall Light and Old-Growth Trees
Ashley & Brian’s gentle love, paired with the old-growth trees of Bowness Park and the soft autumn light, created some of my favorite wedding portraits of recent years. The combination of a relaxed timeline, a partly cloudy day (chef’s kiss!), and our mutual appreciation for the beauty of the park made this portrait session magical.
Wedding Ceremony and Reception at Alloy Restaurant, Calgary
A Unique, Hidden Gem for Weddings in Calgary
After our photo session, we headed to Alloy Restaurant for the ceremony and reception. Located in a somewhat industrial part of Calgary, Alloy gives off a cool, unexpected vibe that feels like being part of a secret club. The ceremony took place on their outdoor covered patio, surrounded by water features and greenery.
An Emotional Ceremony Led by Calgary’s Best Officiant
The ceremony was beautiful, with tears shed throughout, especially when Brian got emotional talking about their dog, Ruger. Judy from Vows by Judy, my favorite Calgary officiant, led the ceremony, bringing warmth, humor, and heart to every moment. (Pro tip: Hire her for all your wedding officiant needs!)
Celebration and Reception Highlights at Alloy Restaurant
Dining, Dancing, and Good Times
After the ceremony, we took family photos, which, with a little humor and some gentle direction, turned out to be a lot of fun! Then, the real celebration began. Ashley, Brian, and their guests enjoyed the finer things in life: amazing food, great wine, and a dance floor that stayed lit up all night thanks to Dance!Shout!
Alloy Restaurant’s Perfect Atmosphere for an Intimate Calgary Wedding
Alloy Restaurant provided the perfect ambiance for this fall wedding, with warm lighting, a hip back-bar area, and attentive staff who made everything run seamlessly. With plenty of free parking, an upscale layout, and delicious food, Alloy is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a restaurant wedding venue in Calgary that’s unique, classy, and fun.
Thanks again to Ashley & Brian for including me in your unforgettable day. Every guest I met felt like an old friend, and I could have easily stayed on the dance floor with the bandmates all night! I love your love, I love your parents’ love, and I loved every moment of your wedding day.
